  1. What is Winter Magic?
    Come one, come all, to Winter Magic – the most fantastic of drive-thru holiday events in Kansas City. A world of winter wonder awaits you! Don’t worry about Krampus, you’ll be safe in your car the whole time. Hey, wear your pajamas and bring your hot chocolate, if it pulls your sled. Drive thru nearly one mile of the most amazing, mesmerizing, WINTERrifically magical holiday light experiences you’ve ever laid those gazers on. See the elves work the toy factory, cruise through the longest light tunnel in the Midwest, be hypnotized by our spinning trees, rock the elf out in Pixel Town, and so much more. I’m telling ya, your snodsokklers will probably never believe you. It’s an elf-of-a-good-time!

    See the holiday magic every night this season on historic Cliff Drive near downtown KC. The magic runs November 3rd through to the new year. Tickets are reserved by one-hour timeslots and there are slots available every night of the week. Check available times here. Winter Magic (in partnership with KC Parks) is the city’s premier, drive thru winter event now for the 3rd year in a row! Plus, proceeds benefit the KC Parks Fund – which provide capital improvements to parks all over the city. Winter wonder for a wonderful cause. Merry, happy, Christma-Kwanza-Hanak-us!   2. When are you open?
    We are open nightly starting at 6pm, but be sure to check which timeslots are available during the checkout process. Closing times vary, but we generally close at 9pm Sunday thru Thursday and 10 or 11pm on Friday and Saturday nights.

  4. Will there be long lines?
    Sometimes. On and around holidays are the busiest times at Winter Magic. Weekends are very popular. On these nights, you can expect some wait, but it usually doesn’t exceed 20 minutes. It is best to avoid Black Friday and Saturday and the two weekends before Christmas. Please plan restrooms, snacks, and activities accordingly.
  5. Why do we have to buy timed slots?
    The timed slots allow us to funnel traffic more efficiently. And, keeps our neighbors happy. 🙂
  6. Do I have to arrive at my slotted time?
    Yes. You need to arrive sometime during the hour that you have reserved. It’s not necessary to be early and don’t worry too much about running late unless you are the last timeslot of the day. (Those elves love their families and like to get home on time. They probably won’t hold the door).
  7. Do the lights dance to music?
    Yes! Many of the lights, including the Midwest’s longest animated light tunnel, will synchronize to the music. You will only need an FM radio in your vehicle to hear the songs. It is quite the party. Be ready to jam!
  8. How much does it cost to go to Winter Magic?
    NO CASH ACCEPTED AT THE GATE

    If purchased online:

    $25 + taxes/fees per standard vehicle
    $35 + taxes/fees per limousine or commercial van under 13-ft high
    $45 + taxes/fees per commercial bus under 13-ft high

    $5 additional cost for paying at the gate (day-of).

  9. Can we buy tickets at the gate?
    Tickets are available for advance purchase online. It’s just easier.
  10. Do you accept CASH?
    NO. The onsite ticket attendant will not be accepting CASH.
  11. What happens in case of inclement weather?
    Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Just kidding, kind of! We will update our website HERE, if the park is closed due to inclement weather conditions. Additionally, we will send you an email!. We have a two week use-by policy. What does this mean? It means your ticket is good for two weeks from the date of “missed” attendance, while the event is still running (through January 1st). Just follow the instructions in the email to rebook!
  12. When is the park open?
    Nightly, Nov 3rd, 2022 thru Jan 1st, 2023

  13. Where is Winter Magic?
    We are located in Kessler Park, near downtown Kansas City, MO. See our DIRECTIONS page for a Google Maps link. 1800 Cliff Drive, KCMO, 64106
  14. Can we get out of our cars?
    No. No one will be allowed outside of their vehicle. All pictures of the lights will need to be taken by one of your passengers, safely from within the vehicle.
  15. Will there be live entertainment?
    No. Many of the lights are pre-programmed with music. There will be no live entertainment. Just fully computerized holiday light entertainment.
  16. Will there be food available?
    No. There will be no vendors for the remainder of the year. Please plan accordingly.
  17. Can I pull my trailer though?
    No. Trailers will not be allowed in.
  18. What is the max vehicle size allowed?
    Vehicles under 13ft high will not be restricted.
  19. How do I determine a van versus a bus?
    We consider a van a commercial vehicle with 15 or fewer passenger seats. More than that, you are considered a bus. If it is your personal vehicle, you are a standard car.
  20. Do you offer corporate/group discount?
    Yes, please contact us at info@wintermagickc.com at least two days in advance.
